Mendip Spring Golf Club 2022

We all enjoyed a sun filled day on a course which was well presented and greens although slow were very true. With a slope rating of 135, members were happy that they had a great number of shots to play with. As a sign of the accuracy of this society's handicaps, only 6 shots separated the entire field in the singles competition played over the back nine holes.

With a smaller number of attendees as we had two last minute cancellations, 14 members set off to do battle. The team game of a two man better ball was easily won by Steve "Got Home at 4.00am" Richards and assisted by "Grizzly Adams" scoring 47 points. Runners up were Stephen "The Secretary" Seymour & Richard Lane with 43 points. Full scoring can be found under the Section results.

The single competition played over the back 9 Holes was won by Leighton "Steady Eddy Jenkins" playing off 8 and scoring 20 points. Shows that cream rises to the top even if its welsh cream !! Runners up were "Steve I was still up at 4.00am" Richards and that now familiar placepot contender Mr Paul Claridge with 19 Points. Although Paul lost on countback to come third, he still is going to lose a shot! Harsh but fair

Despite the depleted usual numbers, a good relaxing time was had by all and with the course being empty, we all enjoyed millionaires golf for the day.

Sadly the secretary forgot to inform Mendip Springs about the Par 3's so no competition there and with his deputy forgetting the raffle tickets, not the greatest day on the admin front. However, Leighton proposed to keep the society funds in good order that every one throw in a "fiver" which everyone duly obliged. Thanks to everyone for that gesture.

The next meeting is at Woodbury Park Golf Club on the 23 June 2022. Final numbers are required by the 8th June 2002 and payment for the day IS REQUIRED on the 9 June 2022. Please if you want to come you need to pay at the time of booking or you wont be included in the final numbers.
